Getting to Know You . . .

In an effort to build team camaraderie (wow, that is a big word) we hosted a Steeler party.  Emily and I took charge and had activities planned for the entire evening.  The girls came from their first outdoor practice.  Even though it hasn't really snowed since December the ground is still covered and the girls have been practicing in a gym.  The city park ALMOST had a big enough area cleared to use as a field.

We had a sit-up contest (FYI -- Keanna won with 50 in 60 seconds).
We had a push-up contest (FYI -- Taylei and Lids won with over 30).
We fed the girls biscuit pizzas.
We worked on nick names.
We played the Candy Bar game.
We played a different Candy Bar game.
We played the Name Game.
We played the M&M game.
We played the Fish or Hand Slap game.
We played Who Sir, Me Sir?
We played Simon Says.

This guy is an honorary Steeler - maybe we could try and be extra professional and make him the designated bat boy.
Kyler is an extra Steeler as well.  When he was asked what nickname he wanted to be known by he claimed "Handsome."  A little later in the night when we were reviewing each others new names he heard his and HATED it.  The girls really are so cute with him I'm just not sure he is old enough to be a bat boy.   I'll have to try to figure something out.
The worst part of the evening happened at the ball field.  While O.D. was running bases she took a hit to her nose by a wild throw.  She is amazingly tough and even though there was blood she wasn't crying.  She loves the game -- the t-shirt she was wearing said "Softball is Forever, Boys are Whatever."
The best part of the night was celebrating Money's birthday.  Her mom sent a cake and we had ice cream.
Happy Birthday Money and congratulations on being a winner of the candy bar game.
The evening ended around 11 pm -- the first Steeler Late Night, I'm sure there will be many more to come!
